This campaign highlights the critical role of corporate-community partnerships in addressing widespread food insecurity, especially as national needs escalate. It empowers everyday consumers to make a tangible difference, demonstrating how collective small actions, facilitated by major retailers, create significant, sustained impact on community health and well-being.
Walmart and Sam's Club proudly launch their 13th annual "Fight Hunger. Spark Change." campaign, running from April 6 through May 3 across all U.S. stores and online. This vital initiative, including metro Atlanta and north Georgia, aims to combat rising food insecurity by providing essential food and resources to individuals and families, underscoring a long-standing commitment to community well-being.
Customers can participate in three impactful ways: by donating or rounding up at checkout (in-store/online); by purchasing specially marked participating products, where each item contributes meals to the Feeding America network; or by giving directly through Feeding America's dedicated campaign sites. Since 2014, the campaign has generated over $227 million and secured more than 2 billion meals nationally.
With nearly 48 million Americans, including over 14 million children, currently experiencing food insecurity—the highest rate in a decade—the need for support is critical. Kyle Waide of the Atlanta Community Food Bank highlighted a 70% increase in local need. Walmart's Julie Gehrki reinforced that "small actions lead to significant impact," empowering communities to thrive through collective generosity.
